NSO Students Visit the White House

June 2015- The U.S. Presidential Scholars program was recently expanded to include a category for outstanding scholars in career & technical education. To celebrate the announcement, students and educators from across the country were invited to the White House and recognized for their work connecting the classroom to real life opportunities. First Lady Michelle Obama headlined the event, where she related high-quality CTE to her REACH Higher initiative.

Johnson & Wales University was well represented at the event, with one current student, two alumni, and one incoming student in attendance. 

Johnnie Hubbard III graduated in 2014 from JWU North Miami, where he majored in Sports, Entertainment & Event Management. Johnnie is the outgoing national president of Collegiate DECA.

Morgan Thompson is a member of JWU Providence’s class of 2017. Majoring in Advertising & Marketing Communications, Morgan is a past national president of DECA (high school division).

James (Beau) Cobb graduated from JWU Providence in 2015, with a degree in Marketing. He just completed a term as PBL’s national president.

Jacob Smith will begin his studies at JWU Denver this September. He plans to major in Business Administration. As a high school student, Jacob was an FCCLA national vice president.
