JA in a Day
By Andrew Donnelly ‘18
On December 16, Johnson & Wales NSO was represented by 14 students at Saylesville elementary school in Lincoln, Rhode Island for our annual JA in a Day program. JA in a Day is a program started by Junior Achievement in which college students or industry professionals go out to a school for a day and teach children lessons concerning business and financial literacy. This is a program that our students have participated in for several years in conjunction with Junior Achievement Rhode Island.
JA in a Day is a program that is designed to connect the business world to the world of elementary school students. Through this program, the college students who participate learn several key lessons, including community engagement and the value of integrative learning. By volunteering to participate in JA in a Day, our students learned the importance of giving back to the community they live in. Our students also learned how important it is that our youth receive an education through integrative learning.
