Each NSO Division focuses on a particular area of concentration which can complement your skill set. Although scholarship winners are only required to be a member of one association, students are more than welcome to participate in as many associations as they wish. Talk with an advisor to find out which association will be the best for you.
Johnson & Wales' National Student Organizations offers four divisions which students can become active members in. Each division focuses on a different area of interest.
In the Leadership Academy, you'll develop and present a leadership series featuring timely and effective speakers and presenters, lunch and learn sessions, a workshop development series, emerging leaders programs, and a peer mentorship program. You could even be recommended for a coveted spot in the Community Leadership Certification Program.
In the Competitive Events Institute, you’ll receive competitive training to help you win scholarships and externships at conferences. As a member, you’ll have the opportunity to become a certified “competitive event trainer” to serve both high school and college students. You’ll also attend a series of seminars hosted by the institute which target industry growth trends and new job categories.
In the Community Action Association, you'll participate in community service and civic engagement projects with an emphasis on hunger, hopelessness, and education. You'll also develop a lifelong, practical understanding of the balance between corporate prosperity and community commitment.
This division of NSO is for those with a high level of interest and skills in marketing, advertising, graphic design, etc. Members of this exclusive group (limited to 8-10 members) work with an advisor on specific projects including the NSO Web site, newsletter and internal public relations campaigns.
