by Jennifer Fustino Session one of the Leadership Academy’s Lunch & Learn Series, was held on October 21, 2005. The series provides an opportunity for attendees to become exposed to guest speakers on the topics of leadership, motivation and competition. Lunch is included and attendees are able to interact and meet fellow NSO members. The first speaker of the series was Catherine Bert from Bert Gallery in Providence, RI who came in to speak about Gallery Night Providence. She is co-president of this operation and her experience in the arts community dates back to 1985. Catherine has done extensive research on local 19th century artists and has incorporated this research into art journals, lectures, consultations with local art exhibitors and in her own gallery. Gallery Night Providence is a free exhibit of 24 local galleries in the metro Providence area. This event runs from March through November and is held on the third Thursday of the month. The galleries involved exhibit their own collections, while also incorporating lectures and presentations throughout the evening. Catherine spoke about the development, community involvement and success of Gallery Night Providence. In addition, she explained how students, and faculty can become involved in the execution of Gallery Night Providence.
