My NSO membership here at J&W has afforded me the most amazing leadership opportunities. As a freshman, I was elected reporter and quickly worked my way up to vice president and then president of the J&W SkillsUSA chapter. In my freshman year I was also elected as vice president of the Rhode Island state chapter of SkillsUSA. I later went on to become president for my sophomore and junior years. I’ve had so many great experiences in NSO. I have served as a competitive events trainer assisting other J&W students in preparing for culinary arts competitions through the Competitive Events Institute of NSO. I’ve taken part in countless social events, received awards at J&W’s annual NSO Oscars Awards and even earned additional scholarships for taking part in NSO competitions.
My involvement with NSO has provided me with priceless leadership, communications and networking skills. I’ve met so many amazing people and gained lifelong friendships.
I plan to graduate from J&W in 2007 with a bachelor’s degree in Food Service Management and a concentration in Casino and Gaming Operations and intend to move to Las Vegas to pursue my career as a food and beverage director at a major casino/hotel operation.
