The Mexico Program presents a multidisciplinary team of students with the issues of community and economic development in Morocco. The selection of students for the Mexico Program relies solely on faculty advisor identification of eligible candidates based on the display of the following behaviors: motivation, resourcefulness, time commitment and team work. Students collaborate during the spring trimester and meet on a weekly basis to brainstorm and prototype innovative ways to use new technologies and business models to amend socio-economic issues at a macro-economic level.
For students to fully grasp the impact of their work, they are given the opportunity to travel to the country they have been studying and present their solutions to local professionals. The fully immersive cultural experience allows students to visualize the solutions within context. Prior to the travel abroad, faculty advisors identify and plan various activities: cultural visits, teamwork exercises and meetings with interested audiences, and incorporate them into the program.
