Leadership Academy- Professional Development Series

 

Series Description:  The Leadership Academy focuses on the academic and professional development of its members.  The “Professional Development Series” consists of 6 events that are geared to assist students succeed in the classrooms and in finding employment.  All members are highly encouraged to attend all events.

Those students that attend 5 out of the 6 events will receive a Professional Development certificate. 

 

Event Descriptions

 

Tips to Succeed in Corporate America- A special event designed to help you succeed in your first role in any organization to help you be recognized as a professional individual that should be promoted quickly.  Topics that will be discussed: proper email protocol, office politics, dressing for success in the workforce, networking and overtime.

 

Reviewing Compensation Packages- 401K, Time off, Employee/ Employer Medical Pay Split… What does it all mean?  This event will help you understand a basic compensation package. 

 

Resume Workshop- Top to bottom explanation of what is needed on a resume, Internet Applicant Law, How to best market yourself and your resume online

 

Interview Workshop- This workshop will review questions the interviewer will ask, questions you should ask and follow up techniques.  Also discussed will be professional attire, how body language/ attitude plays a part in your interview and what basic interpersonal skills employers are looking for in employees.

 

Study Skills- Tired of cramming for those mid-terms?  Stressed out on how to start studying for tests?  This event will help you develop healthy study skills. 

 

Time Management/ Managing Stress- This workshop will focus on how to overcome anxiety affiliated with stress and how to better manage your time.
